FERNANDO MAZA
Was born in 1936, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Born into a family of architects, Maza began formal art studies, drawing and
painting still lifes and landscapes in 1949. Ten years later, he
joined 3Los informalistas2, a group of young abstract painters. Maza
moved to New York City in 1960, received a OAS grant and studied
print-making at the Pratt Graphic Center. In 1962, Maza spent ten
months in Europe before returning to New York. 1964 and 1965 Maza spent
in Buenos Aires, exhibiting and where he was chosen to represent
Argentina at the VIII Biennale in São Paulo, Brazil. He returned to New
York City, participating in various group exhibitions and in 1971, Maza
received a Guggenheim fellowship. The following year, he was invited to
represent Argentina at the 36th Venice Biennale. Maza showed regularly
in Europe and in 1973 moved to London and then to Paris in 1978.
Fernando Maza lives in Nogent-sur-Marne, France.
